Just got disconnected at 10:30 GBP news.

Are you still there Spotware? The basics of your trading platform are buggy.

You can download cAlgo platform, make new cBot, leave its logic empty, make new instance and run backtest for desired period of time. That way you get chart for selected period of time and can do analysis there.

Additionally, once the chart is loaded you can attach your indicators to the chart, if you use any.

RE:

As long as spotware isn't able to fix the issue with changing candlesticks when refreshing the chart the benefit of higher tick periods is disputable anyway :(

cAlgo and cTrader should have the possibility to choose any timeframe in ticks, no only the diferent ticks options it has. The ideal would be that anyone could choose the period of ticks that would, for example (100 ticks), (250 ticks), (50 ticks), (1000 ticks), (3500 ticks), any period of ticks they want, in order to see the chart more accurate according to the price changing and not only by the time (which are the most common timeframes, but actually they are not so accurate).

RE:

Hi Yenyes,

if you want to trade paper pencil style (just need a lot of chart history) you can try MT4 or Mt5 as bull said.

You wrote you are a PA trader so if you need tick data to backtest, Ninjatrader would probably be your choice (it has time and tick charts like ctrader) but you would need a data feed of course (there is at least one free tick data feed available, not telling the name here, since it might be regarded as unwanted broker discussion). Amibroker might be a choice as well.

If you want a complete testing environment I would go for forextester 2. Not free and development is pretty slow (v3 still not in sight) and also you can't you custom MT4 indicators but standard indis are available. Also you would need to feed it with tick data. Never the less it's pretty nice for pure price action testing because it tracks your trades (demo available).

Personally I go for the ninjatrader route for manual backtesting with paper pencil (feeding a database for statistical evaluation) because history bars in ctrader are limited.

Cheers

Hello,

I am new to cTrader (since Monday) and love it. Can anyone tell me how to back-test my strategy? Not a Bot, just Price Action trader here.

Is this issue fixed? Don't want to sound rude but how do you define currently (1,5+ years?

Hello,

Thank you for your suggestion.

Our development team will implement this feature.

Can you tell us around when you are going to implement this feature?

Today a similar problem occured on my platform when switching time frames (but cannot reproduce):

1. draw some chart objects (rectangle in my case)

2. change time frame

3. scroll back in timeline

4. object moved with time instead of staying in the place where I put/ankered it

vote for this feature over here: http://vote.spotware.com/forums/229166-ideas-and-suggestions-for-ctrader-and-calgo/category/76800-calgo

I am missing the option to interact with chartobjects too since kills the possibility of making a nice trade managers etc.

Hey Spotware, you don't have to spoon-feed us with a complete platform but please give us the option to develop our own tools by providing more APIs and more customizable features/options in the platform.

I have experienced this problem too, but implemented a workaround to change TP and SL to exact prices in a callback and forgot to report that. Essentially, ExecuteMarketOrder[Async] and friends have take profit and stop loss parameters of the double type, but rounded to integers.

Hi Alexander,

would you mind to share your workaround?

My workaround is to draw a line at the SL price I desire and then move the SL by hand to the target price. Currently I'm manually scalping so it's not to bad (but still far away from reasonable coding).

Correct me if I am wrong but I think when it comes to automatic scalping cTrader is kind of useless if you want to use pending orders. If you go for just say ~3 net pips you just don't want to pay an extra 0.5 pips when your stoploss is hit, especially with higher lot sizes.

Sorry we only offer integers please pay another 100EUR... yea sure ;)

Then you don't need to care about spread anymore, it's doubled this way anyway.

When I get to a point where I want to go for automatic trading I got to change to another platform, maybe Ninjatrader since it is using C# too (or mayne even consider MT4).

I don't get why there is onyl "Stop loss in pips" and not also "Stop loss price" it's circuitous in many situations. Same situation with crosshair and integers only.

Don't get me wrong overall I like cTrader but it really has it teething troubles.

This needs a Hotfix.

*bump*

Is this 'feature' comming anytime soon? If you don't want to show pips with a separator please give us at least the option to switch to pipettes.

Every other platform I can think of does this and accurate entries and exits are essential when scalping on M1 or even M5

Come on, it's not that much of a deal to implement this standard and it's really hard to think of a benefit using an integer in this situation.

Best regards
