Hi,

I would recoment a small barebone desk top PC with current Windows operating system. A 24/7 running laptop will be soon filled with dust and is hard to clean. I don't think that you need any sophisticated high speed computer but I don't know the timeframe you want to work with. For tickcharts you might need something fast -  I use 15min and 5min time frames so I have no experience with tick charts.
