I have the same problem. Optimisation runs for about 50 rounds but then nothing. Once you stop it the play button is not working again even for backtesting. You have to restart Ctrader but the issue comes up again.

PanagiotisCharalampous  @PanagiotisCharalampous is the cTrader team aware of this issue? I've already reported it through the cTrader desktop software but didn't get any response. Thank you.
