Looking for a way around this I think that closing the position and opening a new one for half the risk (or whatever your risk tolerance is)  is close enough to partially closing.

Totally agree. It's almost impossible to properly backtest.

It would be very helpful

Here you have a second report. It is totally true

As you can see from the image between the two horizontal lines there are 2518.48 - 2498.34 = 20.1 pips which is pretty much what the True Range Indicator shows but when measuring the distance you can see the popup showing 200+ pips. I
