Feature Request: Fixed Scale Option for Charts in cTrader
15 Nov 2024, 23:46

Dear cTrader Development Team,

I hope this message finds you well. First, I’d like to express my appreciation for the intuitive and robust features cTrader offers, which have significantly enhanced my trading experience.

I’d like to suggest a feature enhancement that I believe will be highly beneficial for traders: a Fixed Scale Option for charts.

Problem:

Currently, when analyzing price action, the scale of the chart dynamically adjusts as new price data is added. While this is useful in many scenarios, there are cases where maintaining a consistent scale is critical—especially when comparing price movements or evaluating patterns over time. The automatic scaling can sometimes distort visual references and make detailed technical analysis less precise.

Proposed Solution:

Introduce a Scale Fix Option in the chart settings, allowing traders to lock the vertical and/or horizontal scale. This feature could include:

  • A toggle to fix or unfix the scale.
  • Customizable options for traders to define a preferred fixed range.
  • Quick shortcuts (e.g., double-click or hotkey) to reset or adjust the fixed scale.

Benefits:

  1. Enhanced Precision: A fixed scale ensures consistency when analyzing price movements or comparing patterns.
  2. Improved Usability: Traders can maintain their preferred view without constant manual adjustments.
  3. Time Efficiency: Reduces the need for frequent zooming or panning to re-establish a familiar perspective.

I believe this enhancement aligns with cTrader's mission to provide user-centric solutions for traders of all levels.

Thank you for considering this request, and I’m happy to provide additional details or insights if needed.
