Renko and Range customization

Is there a reason as to why you decided to go the predetermined tick size for these two chart types instead letting the trader decide what size he wants for the bars?  Wouldn't it be a lot more plausible for the professional?  Or at least give the trader a way to add his own tick sizes to the list by editing some kind of configuration file!
