[Bug] trendline coordinates change with zoom level changes
01 Jul 2020, 14:52

i see another post about scaling problem on ctrader web version, i don't know if this bug report has the same behaviour :

i put a  bullish diagonal trendline into my basic chart with 1000 ticks chart resolution,

so , i zoom out at max level (0)

i draw my bullish diagonal resistance trendline.

i change the zoom level to 2, (so i zoom in)

my trendline was moved, so the resistance is not more valid

(only basic chart with basic trendline, no other tool )

2/ i remark that sometimes when i try to adjust my trendline, there is a ctrader feature that automatically adjust the angle and the length.

i checked into trendline option, about automatic adjustement, no more.

so finally, i think about the first point, this is a bug.

thanks

UPDATE : i tried another test on another currency, and not finally convinced even the option unchecked.

if i draw the trendline from the the back left to the low middle of the range, and try different zoom, the coordinates of the trendline change.

So, perhaps, more tests to mark this bug as resolved.

Hi ctrader001,

Can you please post some screenshots or a video that will allow us to visualize the problem and reproduce it?

two screenshots of EUR_USD 1000ticks and 200ticks, the bearish trendline is at bad coordinates when you downsize timeframe from 1000 to 200.

i finally found the issue :

* mouse right clic on the trendline to open the settings popup

* uncheck the "Snap to chart prices" option

In fact, you can reproduce the behaviour on the same timeframe, just by changing the zoom.

i don't know exactly, what's the purpose of this option., surely an auto scale option.

so, to avoid  coordinates change, during zoom, you must uncheck this option.

perhaps, you can append your comment about this option.

Thanks

UPDATE : i tried another test on another currency, and the bug still exists.

if i draw the trendline from the back left of the screen to the low middle of the range, and change the zoom level, the coordinates of the trendline change.

So the bug still exists.
