Multiple Instance and Drawings
Multiple Instance and Drawings
25 May 2016, 05:11
I run two instances of cTrader in order to have full functionality of the platform across both of my displays.
I run two different accounts, one on each instance.
Is there anyway to save the drawings on one instance and open these on the other? I have tried using the templates but it does not seem to save my drawings.
At present I have to manually plot my lines on both instances which is a huge time waster, and if any disconnections occur it is up to chance as to which instance will save correctly. Often times the main chart I have been saving over and over again upon a disconnection will not be the chart/instance that is recovered when reconnecting; meaning I have to draw the lines all over again.
Any workarounds for this would be greatly appreciated.

Dear Trader,

Sorry still doesn't answer the question.
I use workspaces at present but when I have two instances open I cannot load a workspace I have saved on one cTrader instance from another. As it is the workspace currently loaded.
Are you suggesting the only way to do this is to save the workspace as a new workspace every day on the main instance, then load this new workspace from the second instance of cTrader?

Hello?????
Can you please tell how in the world you are able to create a chart for on instrument, say DAX, draw up a bunch of lines at particular levels; then save/copy this chart including its drawings so it can be imported onto a new chart of the same pair.
This really should not be difficult.. It is a huge pain in the arse to draw lines on multiple charts over and over and over and over again.
PLEASE HELP!!
Excuse my anger but the lack of simple feature wastes so much of time, I've had enough and will need to change platforms again.

Maybe this:
Top left at your chart: Help - Help Guide - http://help.spotware.com/
Read it all before using the platform...
Have a look at Charts: Templates, that will answer your question.
Thanks for the reply, but saving templates does not save the drawings on a chart. When importing a template onto a new chart none of the drawings are present; as they are with other platforms.
I have asked other traders about this who use cTrader and the response is the same; not possible.
So, if we are indeed missing something can you please clue me in as to how you are drawing on DAX chart 1, saving the template; loading said template on DAX chart 2 and it is loading all of your drawings?

Line 1 pretty clearly states that you cannot save line studies in templates..
- Setup your chart options. You can save the zoom level, chart type, indicators, grid and line settings, and colors. You cannot save the timeframe or line studies in a template.
This is the issue; it is something that is available in many other platforms, I don't see why it is limited on cTrader?

Which line studies do you draw over and over again? If that's your problem...
I draw anything from weekly, monthly highs/low to areas of order flow taken from Daily-4H-1H and then minor levels of interest on smaller time frames.
They are simply horizontal lines, but the templates do not save these, which is a ridiculous 'feature'.
For someone who runs multiple instances of charts, across various time frames and would like to draw their lines on one chart from Daily down. Then save that template, and while keeping the chart open and split screened, use those same lines on a lower time frame and different chart instance - there is simply no way to do this.
It makes no sense at all.

Seems to me you need the right indicator.
Haha possibly, but the lines are always changing as the market creates new order blocks and areas of interest.
I really just need bloody cTrader's basic functionality to allow the savings of line drawings in templates! As so many other platforms do.. :)

Dear Trader,
As said in our previous post.
Please have a look at the Workspaces section of our user support site.
Workspaces is a cloud feature which you can use to set up and save different platform layouts that you can use from multiple accounts and on any computer, but only on the same platform.
Workspaces created on cTrader Desktop cannot be loaded on cTrader Web, due to the mild variations between the applications.
A saved workspace will include the following (not entirely definitive as it is subject to change)
- Open charts (including any options or indicators applied to the charts)
- Chart templates
- Favourite symbols.
- Preferences (QuickTrade settings, layout selection, sounds on/off, etc)

C'mon team, how can we keep going over this? :)
From the link you posted... '..You cannot save the timeframe or line studies in a template.'
This is the feature required, as stated in the first post and subsequent.
Your platform doesn't offer the feature, all good, but please stop referring me to pages that are not relevant to my requirements.

Similar issues
I opened two chart windows side by side on c-trader, let's say EURUSD. I set one on 4 hours cd the other on 15 mins. Is it possible to draw a trend line on the 4 hours chart and same line will automatically appear on the 15 mins of the other chart?

This is what I use, you have to run the indicator on each instance.

I have the same pain with cTrader. The platform is very user friendly however it seems to me they shifted their focus to Algo trading instead of having the basics done right (like tradingview does). Probably they are more focused in volume trading (for commisions, etc), instead of manual trading. Some basic features are been requested for at least 7 years and update after update they negleted this request - Im talking about R:R Tool). Last update there was not a single improvement for who dont use algo trading and it was very dissapointing, at least for me.
