Wierd sudden drop in bid price

Wierd sudden drop in bid price

Hi Folks

Anyone able to tell me what happened here? In the space of one tick the bid price on this pair dropped by 40 pips and then rapidly climbed back to its "normal" range. I looked at the tick chart and the ask price stayed around its "normal" level while this was going on.

 

As you can see the bid dropped to exactly the amount necessary to kick in my sell stop (at the low of the previous day) and then push me into a $25 loss immediately. I see this happen on occasion in various pairs. This is a demo account.

What happened here? Would a live trade be messed about? Is this "real" information?

Thanks and sorry for the dumb question if its something I don't understand.

Hi again

I looked at that again and the stray tick wasn't down to my sell-stop, it took my sell stop down by more than 20 pips. So maybe the world and the markets aren't against me individually but I'm just collateral damage along the way :)
