Indicator Trust Delimar & Permissions Required
06 Sep 2020, 10:16

Hi All,

Firstly finding ctrader has been amazing jaw dropping moment so thankyou to the ctrader developers.

This is only my second day though really love what I see which do hope to find out a few more basics.

So I have download couple of indicators and on the whole they work well, whilst there are others that I would like
to install yet have no confidence installing these indicators given permissions required and would like to
clarify what level of risk/trust I should consider when non standard permissions are requested and why they
need unlimited permissions?

I note "part" or "all" of the source code is shown on indicator page, so does that mean the indicator should be
trusted and on another prompt suggested it hasnt been signed so again had concerns installing it

As an example OnLy here are the few indicators requiring unlimited permissions or haven't been signed

I had hoped global "crosshairsync" would be built in, though the only developer that had it requires unlimited
permissions because it required .net framework I think

Also see theres a thread to have global crosshairs built in but thats over 5 years old
http:// cTDN Forum - Global Crosshair or Synchronize Crosshair between Charts [Click and drag to move]

Any advice or more understanding on the risks involved and trust factor of unsigned developers would
be much appreciated

thanks

RE: Indicator Trust & Code Transparency

I was hoping someone would have the answers or understand the concerns of a new trader so the answers would
be of value to every new trader in the future???

Did I ask the question wrong or does it not make sense?

Even if the developer didnt want to share the code with everyone, Is there a vetting checking process or certification
apps can or cannot be trusted?

Does Ctrader apply a code of conduct for developers and apps can be trusted to produce quality and trusted code for their platform?

maybe some sort of scoring system, so it gives the trader a degree of confidence in the app, the developer and ultimately ctrader
success

thanks

Hi tradex1,

I am not sure what kind of answer do you expect. The indicator requests unlimited access to your computer. It is your call to make if you trust it or not. cTrader cannot make the decision for you hence it asks you. If you do not trust the indicator or the indicator's programmer, don't use it.

Regarding

Does Ctrader apply a code of conduct for developers and apps can be trusted to produce quality and trusted code for their platform?

No we do not do this. We do not have a central place of distribution for such tools. cTrader Automate can be used by anybody to write their own cBots/Indicators without any limitations and distribute them as they want. We do not provide any kind of guarantee.
