Bug(?) report. cTrader desctop reorders charts in the workspace from time to time.
14 Jul 2020, 08:34

cTrader desktop v3.7  reorders charts in the workspace from time to time.
I have 10 charts in the workspace is some orders.

The left top chart is GBPUSD, for instance.
Sometimes when I start cTrader it may open the workspace and reorders charts in some random order. I can not replicate it in a stable way.
It looks like this may happen when cTrader starts after rebooting.
Sometimes it may happen after I add/remove several lines on the chart.

One of the possible scenarios:
1. Create the workspace with 19+ charts.
2. Create several copies of this workspace. ("Save workspace")
3. Add several lines to the chart.
4. Select an another work space.

Expected result: you have to see the original workspace.
Actual result: charts are reordered in some random order.

How to prohibit cTrader to reorder charts in the workspace?

Hi koktos632,

Which chart mode do you use?

Hi koktos632,

I was asking about the chart more. Is it Multi-Chart mode, Free-Chart mode or Single-Chart mode?

I am using Multi-Chart mode and Single-Chart mode in most cases.
From my experience cTrader may reorder charts if I open the saved workspace in a Multi-Chart mode.
Charts are reordered when I select the workspace. No any manipulations are required.

Charts in the workspace were reordered after cTrader updated the version.

Hi koktos632,

We could not reproduce such a behavior. Please note that there is a different order kept for MultiChart and FreeChart in case there is a confusion there.

RE:

The work space was in MultiChart

cTrader shows the Tip "Reload now"
after reloading the order of charts changes.

The work space was open when I click "Reload"

cTrader opened the sane workspace with the different order of charts.

All another workspaces (saved) are not affected.

How to replicate

Hi!
It looks like I can replicate the situation with reordering of charts.

1. Create a workspace with 10 charts.
2. Switch to Multichart mode.
3. Reorder charts in some order.
4. Switch to SingleChart  mode
5. Switch to Multichart mode. The order of charts is the same
6. Iterate 4....6 to confirm the order of charts is not changed.
7. Switch to SingleChart  mode
8. Exit cTrader.
9. Run cTrader. cTraderstarts in a  SingleChart mode.
10. Switch to Multichart mode.
Expected result:
The the order of charts is the same as in the p3
Actual result:
The order of charts differs from one in the p3

How to preserve the order of charts?

Thanks,

Hi koktos632,

Based on your description the feature works as designed. If you want to avoid reordering in this case then you should use Free Chart mode.
