How to change or turn off/on Smart Stop Out
03 May 2017, 16:32

Maybe this has been answered in the forum before, but how do I change or turn off/on Smart Stop Out levels?

It's amazing (ly bad) that this isn't covered in the smart stop out page in the guide.

Thanks!!

You can't, as this is only a configuration setting for a server/broker, not a client/trader.

Protect the account

The Smart Stop Out is based on the margin given from the broker. When the account reaches equal or below the leverage given from the broker they have to sell off all the positions.

From the trader's point of view, it's much better to be prepared beforehand for a scenario like being stopped out of the positions by the broker.

Information on this matter can be had at this link: RMMRobot.com

Dear Joshfinance,

As correctly stated above, the stop out logic in cTrader is used to maintain the margin required by the broker for the account to keep positions and cannot be disabled, changed or switched to another method. Our smart stop out logic has been recently introduced and has replaced our previous fair stop out logic. With the smart stop out you have the benefit of staying within the required margin level and maintain your position for as long as possible, opening the opportunity of being able to bounce back (which wouldn't happen if they are entirely closed). The smart stop out provides maximum protection to your account and positions, as it progressively closes your positions only partially by the smallest increment (typically steps of 1000 units / 0.01 Lots) to keep your margin just above Stop Out level if ever it should fall below. This is a feature that benefits traders massively and we do not see the reason why you would like to disable it.

Thanks everyone

Thanks - maybe a couple lines to that effect on the guide page about the smart stop out. Not clear if this is something that a trader can control or not.

Agree to your suggestion there. More information about the Smart Stop Out would be great. The question is, can the trader be at ease with the Smart Stop Out or should a trader have additional protection schemes at hand to prevent losses? Definitely so is the answer here, a protection not entirely based on the core of the platform but more of an external cBot handling these issues that are specific to the traders need. A platform in itself can never give a trader the ultimate protection, it has to be constructed and coded outside the basics but still within the language of the platform. RMMRobot.com is dedicated to these questions regarding the protection of the trading account as a whole.

Is it possible to increase it

Is it possible to increase it to like 70% rather then the default 50%. I would feel so much safer having to risk only 30% rather then 50%.

Thanks.

Hi vipin.bhatia,

As discussed above, this setting is set by the broker. You can talk to your broker about this.
