Changing the price alert sound
17 Feb 2017, 09:43

Hi.

The Price Alerts makes a specific bell noise that I start to find really annoying.

I still want a sound to be produced but is there a way to change the sound file ? Pretty sure it's not possible within the software but maybe there is a way to replace a mp3 file somewhere in the program directories or in the register database ? I can't find it.

Thanks.

Hi,

You can disable sounds in cTrader by going to Preferences and unchecking Sounds.

Thanks for answering but as I said, I still want a sound to be produced, I just find the current one really annoying.

Isn't there are sound.wav somewhere I could replace ?

Changing sound files

I do not think it's possible at the moment to change sounds files within the application of cTrader. It would be very convenient to be able to do so.

Alerts 1.0 cBot has solved this issue by having sound files that can be replaced with your own mp3 sound files.

Have a look at the cBot here: Alerts 1.0

Thanks but seems it's not price alerts (alert when reaching a certain price level).

Up!

I would like to change the price alert sound as well. Sometimes I miss it. I would like to replace it with the one that has a longer play duration.

Hi 8069184, my point is that it is possible within the API of cAlgo to incorporate your own sound files and not be locked in by the internal cTrader sound files.

Indeed that's a fair point. I might even look into it if I get the time. Thanks :)

There is no option to change the sound at the moment.

Is there still no work-around, no place where the current sound is stored on our hard-drives,
where we can replace the sound ourselves?

(It must be using some type of sound file, .WAV or .MP3 or something)

P.S.
I really wish cTrader would listen more to feedback (or give a workaround).
This sound is terrible quality (cracking, making it even more annoying,
extremely loud (compared to the volume of other sounds in both cTrader and on the computer in general,
so turning down the volume wouldn't work) and just an annoying.sound.
