[Bug report 6][Blank Screen After Closing WebView2 Processes]
02 Jan 2025, 15:39

Hi,

I. Description:

  • After manually terminating Microsoft Edge WebView2 processes via Task Manager, the “Copy” menu in cTrader Desktop displays a blank screen without any content.
  • Additionally, no error message or warning is displayed, leaving the user without feedback about the issue.
  • The expected behavior would be for the required processes to restart automatically and for the application to notify the user if something goes wrong.

II. Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Launch cTrader Desktop.
  2. Open the Trade menu.
    • Observation: No Microsoft Edge WebView2 processes are started (as shown in the image from point 1.1 at this link).
  3. Open the Copy menu.
    • Observation: Six Microsoft Edge WebView2 child processes are created.
  4. Open the Trade menu again.
  5. In Task Manager, manually terminate (End Task) all six Microsoft Edge WebView2 child processes, until no such processes remain.
  6. Return to the Copy menu.

III. Observed Result:

  • The Copy menu displays a blank screen without any content.
  • No error message or warning is displayed to inform the user about the missing processes or an issue with the menu.

IV. Expected Result:

  • The application should automatically restart the necessary WebView2 processes when accessing the Copy menu.
  • If restarting processes fails, the application should display an error message or warning to inform the user about the issue.

V. System Specifications:

  • cTrader Desktop version: 5.1.11.36230
  • Operating System: Windows 10 Pro (Version 22H2)
