Stuck on reconnect
Stuck on reconnect
08 Jul 2016, 12:10
Hello,
i've been trying out my algos in cAlgo for the past weeks with a demo account at fxPro, now i'm about to open a live account, but i'm experiencing one big problem with cAlgo..
I'm running cAlgo on a dedicated Server, running Windows Server 2012R2 x64..The server is 100% stable, so is the internet connection, BUT sometimes my cAlgo gets disconnected and is then stuck on reconnecting, the robot is still running, but it can't trade, because it's not getting live-data anymore and the account does not reconnect, no matter how long i wait, while internet is up and everything just works perfectly..No error messages or anything, nothing special in the log/journal...It's stuck on reconnecting for days if i dont manually reconnect it..
If i then stop the bot manually and click to reconnect, it instantly reconnects and i can start the bot again..But as this is an automation tool, it is impossible and not meant to be monitored 24/7 to fix the disconnects..
So i could really need a solution for this before i can run it on a live account, because my robot needs to be monitoring and handling all trades at any time, a normal disconnect/reconnect wouldn't be a problem ofcourse, as long as the reconnect works..
If there is no simple solution, would anyone know a workaround for this? I was already thinking about writing an external java tool, that just monitors cAlgo for disconnects and then stops the robot, reconnects and starts the robot again...But that wouldn't be a much preferred solution and i hope that there is a better one..
Thanks in advance!

Having the same issue as well, very concerning as it happened no less than 4 times in a day today. i was not expecting this to happen and i really like this platform in comparison with mt4, but if this disconnection persists , its highly risky to be running the calgo live.

Yes ofcourse..it's impossible to let it run without observing it all day..Didn't find a solution yet.

I can't even use the Notifications.sendEmail, because it doesnt count as a server disconnect error..otherwise i'd atleast get messaged so i could relog manually..

yup, and Spotware doesn't seem to care, this has been an issue for 1-2 years. I am in the process of switching back to mt4 because of this reason.
Did you try running your robot on cTrader, instead of cAlgo? I'm trying that right now, if it doesnt work i will write myself an external tool that watches for disconnects and does the "manual" reconnecting process for me..

RE: RE:
I tried both, occurs frequently in both. I also made a solution to restart cTrader on disconnects, but it's complicated as the bots will not auto-start after restart so therefore you need to play around with an automation tool that can click start on the bots, which becomes even more complicated when running in a VPS @ Windows as screen actions are disabled during disconnect... frustrating to say the least.

Reconnection problems
This is an issue that I have actually never encountered. I have traded from most parts of the world and have not ever experienced connection problems.
The problem might be in the windows version and the cpu you are using and the computer itself. Mostly I would think the problem might be with your internet server provider.

Dear Traders,
We have tried to reproduce the mentioned behavior and were not able to do so. Could you please send the email to feedback@spotware.com (or simply use a feedback box in the cAlgo) to describe the exact behavior and give us more details. In particular, we would need to know the name of your Server provider, the location of the server, the time when the connection usually falls. Also please be advised that on our web-site you can find a list of recommended VPS providers.

I've been to this problem too when I was login with cTID, it happened frequently during the day(maybe 5-6 times). At first I blamed VPS provider but they confirmed that their services is good and I've checked by myself the internet connection still working fine.
So I tried to login with normal trading account then problem gone. Never stuck at re-connect again. You can try and let me know the result.

Hi,
I have had many similar problems and have been monitoring my Internet connection which is fine.
Today I came home to the following screen...which could confirm what Boomslam suggests - that the problem indeed lies with the cTrader ID.
I will log on with the Trading Account ID and see if this is better.
Spotware: Please let us know what information we can gather to solve this problem.
Thanks!

RE:
This is a constant issue for me too, I do grant that my internet connection 9which is fibre to the premises high speed (by Australian standards AKA NBN) may drop out for a moment occasionally - leaving the calgo/ctrader to risplay reconnecting without actually connecting unless I switch off the wifi and switch it back on close the program and reopen - which is a real nuisance with cbots running!
I can confirm that the internet is connected in my browser and works fine, sometimes the internet dosent even appear to drop out and this occurs - it reconnects sometimes but not all of the time! which can lead to costly issues.
I have contemplated using MT4 though I find the interface cumbersome and outdated.
Just today this resulted in a loss of almost $1000 for failing to close open positions because the thing had disconnected. and having to check the thing via a virtual desktop viewer on my cellphone when out really puts a whole new spin on "automation" so called!!
I am really tired of this crap, one more contly issue and I will look into using another platform, which is unfortunate as I do like and am comfortable with the spotware applications!

Hi,
I have also now logged into the trading account directly. No Internet breaks for over a week.
Also, the platform coped with the weekend stop/start seamlessly - the reconnect when the trading session restarted after the weekend worked fine. This previously often did not work.
I will stay logged in to the account directly, and not use the cTID/cTrader ID to log in.
It is great to get this problem solved. Thanks for the tip!

I have the same problem to reconnect. I don't understand how spotware can't reproduce it, since you only have to leave a bot running for some time!!

This reconnect is starting to seem like a scam to ensure cbots don't operate effectively (or to keep winning positions open long enough for them to become losers), i have noticed however that my reconnect problem arises around UTC 18:00 for both ctrader and calgo (for the past few days at least?). Is it around the same time for u guys as well?
