update indicator settings from code

is there a way to update the values in the Indicator settings dialog from code?

I saved some info to a json and wrote some code to read it in and update the settings for the indicator in the indicator initialise function.

However, when i look at the indicator after running the indicator for a while, the settings have not been updated in the settings dialog for the indicator.

is there a way to update the values in the settings dialog of the indicator in order to get visual confirmation that the indicator has just run with the correct settings
